Intuition can be defined as the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning. I see it as that sometimes nagging feeling we get that heeds us to take one action over the other or pay better attention to something we’re being complacent about.

Lately, I’ve been paying better attention to my intuition, and I’m finding that now more than ever, it’s essential that I pay close attention. In the past, I tended to ignore it, thinking it an irrational sense of feeling that shouldn’t have control over my decisions, but these days, I’m singing a different tune.

Is it because I’m getting older? Perhaps. But as they say, nothing beats experience. I have been in one too many situation where I ignored my intuition, then later regretted it. Just the other week, I was being lazy when i was cleaning the house to move all the sofas from their position and vacuum underneath. I had a strong feeling that I’d be caught out, but I ignored it and promised that when next I vacuumed, I’d do it. Guess what? The very next day my mum for whatever reason moved one of them and saw all the dust that had accumulated and gave me a good telling off! You see! I said to myself, if only I had listened to my own intuition. Of course, that’s only a mundane example, sometimes our intuition helps us just when we feel like something is off about someone or something and even if we can’t place our fingers on what it is, that feeling makes us look closer at the situation at hand.

I can’t say that I always get it right, because sometimes real facts beats having “a gut feeling” but I’m sure you get what I mean.
