Hello lovelies, if you did’t already know, I wrote about the Africa Fashion Week London 2017 event which you can read all about here and I also talked about the brand that styled me for day 1 here. So you can go read up on those once you’re done here.
However, today’s post is all about my custom designed jumpsuit by the head designer of Duchess Avenue. Prior to being invited to the event, I had met up with the brand for a different reason, so when I learned that I’d be attending the AFWL event, I reached out to them to style me for the event.
I had no input in the design(although I agreed on the final fabrics for the patchwork), all I said was that I wanted something out there and unique. I had gone for 2 fittings and was excited each time and when I finally tried it on, I was amazed.
Who is Duchess Avenue?
Duchess Avenue is a new cutting edge brand founded by Akua Kwarteng. She offers premium ready to wear garments as well as specializing in making one off customized clothing for all shapes and sizes. When it comes to fashion, head designer Akua has no boundaries. She’s bold, vibrant and exudes maximum confidence, it was no wonder I was drawn to her brand in the first place. We first met at a bloggers event in February, and here we are now working together, and there’s even more to come! Watch this space…
Day 2 at the AFWL was amazing and I walked out learning about new designers in the African fashion industry which continues to grow and blossom with each passing year. Our time is truly now and I’m very inspired by the people working hard to pursue their passions as well as elevating the perception of what it is to be African.
Big kudos to you all!
To look as regal as I do in Duchess Avenue’s piece, you better head over to them right now. No more asking around for a “tailor”, Duchess Avenue has got you covered.
