Happy new year lovelies! We’ve come a long way haven’t we?
2017 has got me speechless, but best believe your girl is ready to work! But before I share any plans for the new year, let’s review the year 2016 a bit shall we?
I call it the year of Black Girl Magic! And if you haven’t been living under a rock, you’d know exactly why.
2016 was inundated by so much millennial excellence I was so happy to be in this generation. It seemed like everyone was working on “upping” their game and self-belief must have been at an all time high.
As you know, I launched my online boutique- Ofio in November although I had been working on it for months prior. All over the internet, I saw people of color slaying over and over again. I was inspired by a lot of you, and it was great to see people like me going for their dreams and working hard at it. We no longer needed to fawn over celebrities whose lives seem unattainable or relatable, but I was inspired by real people my like me and that made the knowledge of my dreams being attainable real.
We weren’t waiting to be noticed or scouted, but were gunning for our heart’s desires by just doing it, collaborating or seeking help in anyway that we could and that’s a beautiful thing.
So many awesome things happened that I’m unable to write them all, but I’m sure you know what I mean.
We’re finally being recognized and even if it’s been a slow ascension, we’re getting there and know that it is possible.
Therefore we must push harder and even break more glass ceilings and barricades.
Thank you all for being here with me and I look forward to a greater 2017 with you cheering by my side.
Let’s be each other’s support group and mega phone yeah?
Until next time,
Love,
Lize

Thank you dear. Being carefree was the idea behind the shoot 🙂
I didn’t know you started a business. Well done Sewa. It was truly the year of black girl magic. All the melanin goodness slaying at the Olympics, podcasts, blogs and even on Instagram. I think I became more conscious of my experiences and the experiences of other black women in 2016.
Thank you Motunrayo! Yes, it truly was an inspiring year.
