When I was first invited to the AFWL event last month, I was excited, until I realized I had nothing to wear! But I didn’t think for long because Grass Fields had been on my radar. I had seen several style influencers rocking their African Wax Print Clothing and I knew they’d have something beautiful on their racks befitting for a fashion show.
After going through the different categories and clothing, I settled on this co-ordinate set called Ekite African Print, and they have the top in another halter neck style here. I was also in love with another matching set in a burgundy color but decided to go for this yellow one because I tend to go for burgundy a lot and wanted something in a different color scheme in my wardrobe. Moreover, I knew the color would be bomb with the faux dreadlocks I was rocking.
Apart from the color, what I love about this set is the cut of the trouser. Nothing beats smartly cut trousers! I can already imagine all the ways I can style it with other tops. Also for those wondering about sizing, I must say the designer at Grass Fields is a genius. So while the front has a smart band, there is elastic at the back of band which means that it will fit different sizes perfectly. Trust me when I say this is important since it has no zip. I once bought a skin tight jumpsuit from an online store and it didn’t had a zip or elastic, so by the time I got to my hips, the jumpsuit refused to move any higher. It was so annoying because it was beautiful and indeed my size but whoever designed it didn’t give much thought to how it will be worn by people with more curves than a tooth pick!
Anyway, if I do say so myself, I think I looked radiant and stylish for the event. Grass Fields also sells ready to wear skirts, tops, dresses, jumpsuits and dashiki shirts.
