Hello lovelies, this post is going to be straight to the point.

We all have our different criteria that a piece of clothing must reach before we can even think of buying it. But most times, especially with impulse buyers, they do not think about how compatible the new item of clothing will be with the others in their closet.

Let me tell you a short story that emphasizes the importance of this point: One day a friend came to my home to visit and when she entered my room and saw my closet, she asked incredulously- are these all your clothes in here?

I wasn’t surprised by her question because with the way I slay(or try to!) my outfits, you’d think I have a walk in closet fit for a Fashion Editor. But alas, I do not!

You want to know why I get away with having not a huge amount of clothes but never run out of what to wear? It’s simple- I think each new buy through before typing in those debit card details.

Yeah, I’m that girl that has a mental picture of every outfit she owns, and because I am quite organized and pack them away methodologically in my wardrobe, I know where everything is and can visualize what old pieces would go with the new one I’m about to buy.

Ideally, when I go shopping, I don’t buy new items that only go with each other. Instead, I think about the items I already have in my closet and come up with looks that the new item would work well with. That way, 1 new item can lead to 3-5 looks.

That’s really important to me because: 1. I ain’t got money to spend on shopping for new digs alone. Your girl’s got bills to pay and dreams to pursue. 2. I don’t have a big space to house an unlimited number of clothes. Really, my wardrobe space pitiful, but hey, I make it work!

So this skirt I recently bought from Primark has been paired with a halter neck top I got from Asos over a year ago and then shoes and accessories that are over 2-3 years old.

I think I slayed the look, what do you think?

Also, what are your own ideal things to think about before or while shopping? Please share your tips and secrets. I’m always down to learn something new, and I’m sure so are my other readers!

Till my next post, keep being fierce and fearless.
