  • I thoroughly enjoyed working with Lize! On a brief trip to London, I was hoping to arrange a boudoir shoot that I had been wanting to have for some time. Upon discovering Lize, I instantly knew that I had found my Photographer. She accommodated my schedule, connected me with a makeup artist, arrived on time, and made sure that I was comfortable throughout the shoot. As this was my first boudoir experience, she provided me with a ton of ideas that we could play with to make sure I got the results that I was looking for. Following the shoot, I promptly received proofs and ultimately the final retouched photos that are absolutely stunning. I remain impressed by her professionalism and attention to detail, and I highly recommend Lize to anyone who is looking for quality photographs that they will cherish for a lifetime.

  • Lize put together a team for the shoot quickly and efficiently and on set was always looking for ways to innovate, directing and experimenting compositions with confidence.  Lize demonstrated a positive can-do attitude throughout the day and in spite of bad weather, we managed to complete three looks in record time. A great team player and an asset to any project.

The pandemic has given me the chance to stay still for the past 2 years and while it's been tough, there's been many lessons and savings from not galavanting all over the world🤣

Nothing we do is by own strength or drive alone. The fact that I'm able to pursue my passions so fiercely is because of the women who fought to make it so.

We're by no means there yet, but I'm grateful for the now.

For all the hopes and dreams I had of my visual ar For all the hopes and dreams I had of my visual art going places, I never imagined it would be one day screened at a cinema.

This incredible thing happened on Tuesday thanks to @chinweart who had the brilliant vision to bring 17 Black female artists together.

I'm thrilled, yet not fully caught up that this has happened.

I'm grateful and ecstatic that I took the leap to pursue my curiosity. And I'm looking forward to the many places this journey will take me!

Whenever I'm asked about my photography journey, i Whenever I'm asked about my photography journey, it always starts with my writing journey because it's through writing I discovered the joy of storytelling.
And through this discovery that I made the decision to become a visual artist.

At the start, photography was simply a medium to quickly tell the stories I wanted to share about my identity that writing was taking too long to accomplish.

That's how African Diasporan (image 3) was born. Writing my debut novel had taken ages and I wanted a medium that would allow me timely celebrate the acceptance of Nigerian culture in the diaspora as this wasn't always the case. I used the Nikon D3100 which was my first DSLR camera.

And then when I discovered the story of Lilian Bader (image 2), one of the first Black women to join the British Airforce during WW2, I was honoured to document her story and celebrate her achievement of becoming a Leading Aircraft woman in a racist institution.

In early 2018, I had a vision of a woman dancing wearing only red waist beads and a few months later, I presented it for a commissioned exhibition in Athens. Titled Ileke, the project was a celebration of the sensuality and strength on Black women.

At the time, I hadn't known that a year later, I'd be specialising in boudoir (image 1) to empower women from different backgrounds.

The most important thing for me throughout this journey, no matter what genre of photography I utilise, is that I use my work to inspire and celebrate Black women, while telling our nuanced stories.

I'm entering this competition as it will enable me to take my visual storytelling to new heights.
